Aspect’s Education Framework brings together more than 60 years of autism-specific education experience to support high-quality teaching and better outcomes for Autistic students. Built around three interconnected areas, Lead, Learn and Reflect, the framework provides a consistent, evidence-informed approach to leadership, teaching and learning, and continuous school improvement.

At its heart is the belief in the potential of every student and the expertise of every teacher. The framework encourages educators to know their learners, build on individual strengths and needs, create safe and inclusive learning environments, and use evidence, data and reflection to continually strengthen practice.

LEAD  -  Leadership that enables inclusive practice

Effective leadership creates the conditions for Autistic students and educators to thrive. LEAD focuses on building strong, reflective leadership that supports inclusive practice, develops educator capability and creates a shared commitment to improving outcomes for every learner.

LEARN — Teaching that responds to every learner

LEARN brings Aspect’s approach into the classroom through consistent, inclusive and evidence-informed teaching. It focuses on knowing each learner, building on their strengths and responding to their individual needs through six interconnected elements:

  1. Differentiated Curriculum
  2. Authentic Assessment
  3. Inclusive Pedagogy
  4. Wellbeing
  5. Supportive Learning Environments
  6. Instructional Leadership

REFLECT — Using evidence to continually improve

Great schools continually reflect on what is working and where they can improve. REFLECT supports a culture of inquiry, collaboration and continuous improvement, where educators use evidence, data and reflection to strengthen teaching practice, learning environments and outcomes for Autistic students.
