Thriving Kids
Thriving Kids is a national program being introduced and rolled out by the Australian Government and state and territory governments. It aims to make support easier to access for children aged 8 and under with developmental delay and/or autism who have low to moderate support needs, and for their families and carers and kin. It responds to the difficulties many families experience in finding timely support, particularly when they are waiting for an assessment or are unsure where to turn.
The program aims to help families understand their child’s development, build on their strengths and connect with appropriate supports without needing to wait for a formal diagnosis. Services are becoming available gradually across Australia, bringing together information, advice, family programs and targeted supports in the everyday places where children live, learn and play, alongside existing services and the NDIS.
