Dr Vicki Gibbs, Head of Aspect Research Centre for Autism Practice said:
“Aspect is aware of recent media coverage in the United States about changes to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) “Autism and Vaccines” webpage and comments attributed to US Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
“The change to the CDC website does not reflect any new scientific evidence. No new peer-reviewed studies have emerged showing any link between vaccines and autism.
“Large, high-quality studies involving millions of children worldwide have consistently found no causal relationship between childhood vaccines and autism. This includes extensive research on the MMR vaccine and on vaccine ingredients such as thimerosal.
“Autism is a neurodevelopmental condition with strong genetic foundations as demonstrated in numerous studies. Efforts are best directed toward understanding, acceptance, and evidence-based supports that enable Autistic people to thrive and achieve a good quality of life.
“Vaccines remain one of the most important public health measures ever developed and are essential for preventing serious illness, disability and death from vaccine-preventable diseases.”
