The use of movement may be a way to self-regulate, communicate or understand physical space for people on the autism spectrum. “Movement and participating in recreational sports have many physical, mental and social benefits,” states Gruskin.

Emma discusses how sports provides rules, routine and structure in her life, and also discusses her experience of “coming out” as an elite Autistic sportswoman.
