Schools are more than just institutions of education; they are powerful ecosystems designed to provide a nurturing environment for every student to grow and thrive. This task becomes even more important when we consider students on the autism spectrum. Educators, families and the wider community should work together to ensure that a students' educational journey is not only enriching but also inclusive.

Aspect has developed an Inclusion Statement to highlight the importance of a culture of inclusion and explicitly communicate this inclusion with staff and stakeholders.

As we come to the end of the school year, our children may be feeling overwhelmed by the many changes that will happen over the next few weeks and into the start of the new year.

Each year, Aspect brings students from all nine schools together from around NSW and SA to participate in the largest autism-specific sports event in the southern hemisphere. Over 600 students, teachers and volunteers attended the event at the Athletics Centre of Sydney Olympic Park for a day of inclusivity and celebration. This year, we had over 60 corporate volunteers help out on the day who contributed their time and energy and helped to make sure the day ran smoothly.

It all started with graduating from the University of Wollongong and moving back to Sydney to start my career. After months of searching for any job, I came across a job ad on LinkedIn. The opportunity was to be a marketing and communications graduate and work for Autism Spectrum Australia (Aspect), a company that has played a massive part in my own life, my family's and of course, my amazing, older Autistic brother, Joshua.

Getting an adult autism diagnosis is a personal choice. Some say it helps them to understand more about themselves, while others may feel confused. We explore the the pros and cons in this article.
