Securing a strong future

A gift in your Will to Aspect isn't a donation. It's a beacon of hope, an opportunity to build on the progress already made since our humble beginnings in 1966.

Gifts in Wills are incredibly important to us. Every gift, both big and small, comes together to bring initiatives and programs to life that otherwise wouldn't exist.

So much of our work receives absolutely no government funding. Previous members of our Gifts in Wills Club have been directly responsible for integral Aspect school capital projects such as; building a new school campus in South East Sydney and the refurbishment of our very first Aspect school, which is the gold standard of all schools created in the future.

Gifts in Wills funding was also responsible for building a new life skills kitchen at one of our Adult Services Centre's in Victoria. In addition to this, gifts in Wills have funded research into areas that are important to Autistic people, conducted by the Aspect Research Centre into Autism Practice (ARCAP). Examples of ARCAP projects include the Self-Compassion Project for Autistic Adults and Experiences of Autistic Women in Pregnancy and Early Parenthood. Each new member of Aspect's Gift's in Wills Club plays a part in bringing the future hopes and dreams of so many families and communities to life.

Our impact

Loftus

Aspect Education

We provide dynamic, individualised learning underpinned by a caring and nurturing approach via nine autism-specific schools across NSW and SA, and over 100 satellite classes based in mainstream, primary and high schools. This provides education to more than 1,240 Autistic students aged 4-17 every single year.

Adult Community Services

We offer Adult Community Services spaces and programs where Autistic adults have the opportunity to have fun while trying new activities and learning new skills that match their strengths and interests. These community centres offer a broad range of fun day programs, and a comfortable and safe group environment - a home away from home.

Research

Our Research Centre, ARCAP, conducts research around areas that are important to Autistic people so we can best support individuals and their families and carers, to realise their goals and aspirations. This means we are applying the latest knowledge and evidence available, and evaluating our services and programs for best practice enabling us to accelerate solutions that improve the everyday lives of people on the autism spectrum.

Autism Friendly

Aspect’s Autism Friendly team partner with organisations to create environments which genuinely support and include Autistic people. Autism Friendly is run in partnership with our Autistic employees who bring their invaluable professional expertise and lived experience at all stages.

Autism Assessments

We provide diagnostic assessments for children and adults to identify developmental difficulties and determine what strategies and supports will assist a person to achieve their goals and reach their full potential. We open up opportunities for Autistic individuals to access the right autism-specific services, supports and funding. We also provide access to assessments for vulnerable communities that could not otherwise afford it.

Aspect Therapy

We provide person-centred, family-focused solutions which are flexible, responsive and evidence-informed to empower individuals to be active participants in their communities and achieve their goals. This includes early childhood supports, speech pathology, occupational therapy, psychology, positive behaviour support, teletherapy services, and so much more.

A Message from our CEO

I can’t thank you enough for considering the extraordinary step of leaving a gift in your Will.

It’s clear to me that you understand our passion for celebrating the unique perspectives and talents of individuals on the autism spectrum. With the support of people just like you we really can create a world that works for everyone.

By leaving a gift in your Will, you’re not just supporting Aspect; you’re championing a future where Autistic people are met with opportunities that recognise their potential, celebrate their differences, and provide them with the autonomy to lead fulfilling lives.

On behalf of everyone at Aspect, thank you for considering this powerful commitment. Together, we can make a lasting impact on the lives of Autistic individuals and the broader community.

Hear from Emily, one of our gift in Wills supporters

Emily

I personally feel like Aspect has a lot of integrity and credibility in the space they work in. They are engaged in research which backs up a lot of the practices and services they offer. This is a way I can help them achieve their mission which I care about. It’s also a way of me saying thank you for the work they do and hopefully ensure their ongoing sustainability.

I want to leave the world in a better place in whatever way I’m capable of and I think that doing something like leaving a gift in your Will is a chance to have a greater impact on an organisation through giving a more significant contribution.

Aspect is so encouraging and supports the strengths and aspirations of ALL people on the autism spectrum. If you know anything about autism, you know that it’s a remarkably diverse cohort of people that are impacted. Some need a little help, and others need 24/7 care. What I like about Aspect is that they try and support everyone no matter what their needs are.

Online Wills - Safewill

Aspect has proudly partnered with Safewill, Australia’s leading online Will writing platform, to provide our supporters an exclusive offer to write your bespoke Will in less than 20 minutes from the comfort of your own home. You will be guided through each step and the process includes a review by an Australian solicitor.

Writing a Will online may not be suitable for those with more complex estates. But for most, it is an easy, affordable, and accessible way to ensure you leave a legacy for your loved ones. You can speak to your solicitor for advice about whether this is a suitable option for you.

We hope you will consider including a gift to Aspect after you take care of your loved ones. Even a gift of 1% is a generous and meaningful way to help change the world for individuals on the autism spectrum.

Here are some of the questions we are frequently asked.

Here are some of the questions we are frequently asked.

What is a gift in Will or bequest?

A Will is a legally binding document that lets you say what you want to happen to your estate after you are gone. Everyone over the age of 18 should have a valid Will. If you do not have a Will, you could lose the opportunity to give the people you care about the things you value most.

When creating or updating your Will, provide for your family and friends first and then reflect on whether you can also include a gift to Aspect.

Why leave a gift to Aspect in my Will?

Leaving a gift in your Will costs nothing in your lifetime but your lasting promise will have a profound impact on the lives of Australians on the autism spectrum. Gifts from kind people like you are so important because they provide stability for Aspect and allow for long-term planning of major projects like new schools.

What kind of gift can I leave?

There are three main ways to leave a gift in Will to Aspect:

1. Residuary: You can leave a gift of the remainder or percentage of the remainder of your estate, once specific gifts and expenses have been taken care of.

2. Specific: You can leave a specific gift by simply stating the dollar amount in your Will that you wish to leave to Aspect.

3. An Asset: You may wish to leave a gift of a specific asset. For example, property, shares, art, etc.

Is there a minimum amount I need to donate?

We are grateful for every gift in Will, no matter the size. Every gift, big or small, helps to improve the lives and opportunities for people on the autism spectrum.
