Aspect’s Adult Community Services participants at Hawthorn Victoria exhibited their incredible artworks as part of the Boroondara Community Exhibitions Program. By taking part in a weekly “Get Creative” Program, participants have been developing their creativity and creating art in a relaxed and beginner friendly environment.

Throughout March and April this year the exhibition, ‘The Future is Interest-spective’ ran at Hawthorn Town Hall Gallery. Unified by a collective drive to form positive representations of autism, the artists presented various art forms exploring such as gender, sport, animals, science fiction, and language. The exhibition celebrated diverse perspectives, experiences, and voices within the Autistic community.

We are thrilled to have this opportunity for the participants to develop their creative practice, collaborate with one another in a positive social environment, increase confidence with public speaking, and to become an active part of the Melbourne contemporary art world,” says Tess Healy, Aspect Support Worker.

Over the past 12 months, participants from the Get Creative art program have also been supported to explore a range of specialty classes including Screen Printing, Wheel Throwing Ceramic, and visiting Melbourne based art spaces.

We can’t wait to see what other amazing art will come out of this program!
