This October, thousands of Australians will take part in Run for Autism — a free virtual running event you can participate in your way or take part whichever way you like. Whether you run, jog, or walk, every step helps build a more inclusive world for Autistic people.

Around 70% of Autistic people experience significant mental health challenges. These challenges often stem from barriers in support, understanding, and accessibility. By joining Run for Autism, you’re helping break down those barriers and create real change.

Running isn’t just good for your physical health, it’s also a powerful tool for mental wellbeing. Regular movement can help reduce stress and anxiety, boost self-esteem and resilience and create a sense of routine and accomplishment. When you run for a cause, those benefits multiply. You’re not just improving your own wellbeing, but you’re also helping others access the support they need to thrive.

Meet Amber

Amber is one of many passionate participants in Run for Autism. Read below on why she joined Run for Autism.

Our daughter Violet is on the autism spectrum and also lives with mental health challenges. Every day, we witness her incredible courage as she faces the world and finds her way. Watching her navigate these challenges with such strength has inspired us deeply.

Autism is part of our daily life. We understand the ups and downs, the extra support needed, and the profound impact of kindness and understanding from the community. For us, it’s about helping create a world where Autistic individuals like Violet are supported, understood, and celebrated for who they are.

Amber, Run for Autism participant

Amber’s story is a powerful reminder that Run for Autism is more than a physical challenge — it’s a movement for acceptance, understanding, and hope.

Be part of the movement and take part. Funds raised through Run for Autism can help provide early diagnosis, autism-specific education, and critical research into mental health issues experienced by Autistic people so they can access the help they need, when they need it.

By signing up, you’ll join a growing community committed to changing lives. You’ll raise awareness, fund vital services, and show Autistic people across Australia that they are seen, supported, and valued.

Let’s run together: for inclusion, for understanding, and for a future where every Autistic person can thrive.
