    It was other children teasing Cassandra’s autistic son that motivated her to write a book about autistic behaviours from a child’s perspective.  Many autistic children have poor speech, are socially awkward and lack coordination – this can lead to teasing and isolation.  Children will often stop teasing other children about behaviours if they understand what drives them.

    A major theme of the 2013 NSW Autism Recognition Awards ceremony (9 April) – hosted in Sydney by the largest national not for profit autsim service provider, Autism Spectrum Australia (Aspect) – was the need to acknowledge and foster leadership talent within the community of Australians with autism and other disabilities.
