Aspect to host Asia Pacific Autism Conference 2017
The Australian Advisory Board on Autism Spectrum Disorders (AAB-ASD), the convenor of the Asia Pacific Autism Conference, has appointed Autism Spectrum Australia (Aspect) to host the fifth Asia Pacific Autism Conference in 2017 (APAC 17) in Sydney at the International Convention Centre at Darling Harbour.
The Cooperative Research Centre for Living with Autism Spectrum Disorders (Autism CRC) will also be involved to promote the research outcomes being generated by this world-first national research collaboration here in Australia.
'Growing with autism' is the conference theme, reflecting the shift in autism research and practice to look beyond the early childhood and school years and focus on the whole lifespan for people on the spectrum
The conference brings together people on the spectrum and their family members, service providers, researchers and policy makers as one community, so that people on the spectrum can realise potential and achieve their very best.
More than fifteen keynote speakers have already committed to speaking at APAC 17 including Dr Peter Vermeulen from Belgium and Dr Barry Prizant, Professor Samuel Odom and Associate Professor Stephen Shore all from the USA. The keynote speakers represent many of the voices in the autism community including people on the spectrum, family members, researchers and practitioners.
Registrations are now open to attend the conference.
