Practical information for APAC17 attendees
Conference ID & program
Registration desk is located on Ground floor of the ICC, opposite to the Hard Rock Cafe entrance.
On the day, don't forget to bring the QR code that was emailed to you by ExpoScan on 1 September 2017. You can either print this QR code or, if you have access to your email via your smartphone or mobile device, you can scan the QR code from your device.
When you arrive you will be given:
• a Conference ID and a Program that you can wear with a lanyard around your neck. You need to wear your conference ID at all times to get access to the conference rooms and food. You can plan your conference using the program.
• a Conference Bag to store any information you collect.
There is also a Conference App available in App stores. You can access the program here, plan what presentations you go to and give feedback via the app.
An autism friendly conference
APAC17 is an autism friendly conference and there are people on the autism spectrum attending.
People can choose to self-identify as autistic with stickers that communicate their interaction preferences.
- GREEN STICKER means the person is happy to speak to anyone.
- ORANGE STICKER means the person is OK to speak to people they know.
- RED STICKER means that the person does not want to talk, please respect this.
- BLUE STICKERS are for parents or carers of a child on the spectrum (networking)
A quiet and relaxing space is available any time in Level 3, room 3.1
Food and drinks will be located just outside the autistic space for convenience of people accessing the space during meal breaks.
>> Join in on a Meet and Greet at the Autistic Space on Thursday 7 September, 11.00 - 11.30 hosted by Emma Goodall and Alexandra Robinson.
Some reserved seating is available for autistic attendees and speakers, on the left and right sides of the conference rooms/theatre.
APAC17 is committed to showing the many strengths and capabilities of people on the autism spectrum, including creativity. During the conference, artwork from autistic adults will be displayed on screens at the venue.
Parents and Carers
If you would like to identify yourself as a parent or carer of a child on the spectrum, please collect a BLUE STICKER at Registration Desk. This will support parent/carer networking at the conference.
>> Join other parents and carers at the Parent/Carer Networking Activity on Thursday 7 September 11.00 - 11.30 in the Room Cockle Bay 1 (Level 3) - morning tea will be provided. This event is proudly hosted by Positive Partnerships.
There are volunteer conference hosts. They will be wearing an orange APAC 17 t-shirt and cap. You can approach them for assistance at any time.
Shall you need to get in touch with the Conference Management, please ask anyone wearing an orange shirt to call Denise, Lara, Tom or Betsy for you. Alternatively, you'll find their contact details in the Autistic Space (level 3, room 3.1)
APAC17 is showing the documentary Life, Animated on Thursday 7th September at 7pm.
We asked Ben Caladruccio, a movie fan, writer and a young man on the autism spectrum to review "Life, Animated" > read Ben's movie review
