Aspect's purpose

Our organisational purpose statement is the reason why Aspect exists.

Developed in consultation with Autistic people, our purpose reminds us that everyone on the autism spectrum has unique and diverse strengths and interests, and that our role is to recognise those strengths in our students, participants, and families/carers in order to create a world where they are not just valued and celebrated, but are respected and integral in helping to shape a more inclusive society.

We live our purpose when we partner with the Autistic people and the autism community in our work, engage with other organisations to show them the value and strengths of neurodiversity, and employ people who value diversity and inclusion, and celebrate difference.

Together, we strive to develop and implement autism-friendly ways of working and living, and in doing so, create a world where everyone, regardless of their differences, has the opportunity to live their best life, doing the things they love to do.

We asked 12 staff what they thought about the Aspect purpose statement and this is what they said...

Many thanks to Vicki, Everett, Ben, Ian, Keri, Lara, Fiona, Patrick, James, Caryn, Leissa and Hibba for sharing what a different brilliant means to them

Purpose Icons

Aspect has been working on new ways to bring our purpose to life. We have developed six new icons, each one representing a key word from the statement.

You will soon see these icons used on a variety of resources across Aspect and they will shortly be made available for staff to download through the intranet! Stay tuned.

Here is a short animation showing you how they work together:

Aspect's vision

🌏

We see a world of opportunities for people on the autism spectrum, and their families/carers.

We see a world of opportunities for people on the autism spectrum, and their families/carers.

A world where the Autistic community is heard and their insights sought out and respected.

A world where children on the autism spectrum are understood and their strengths, dreams and aspirations championed.

A world where the human rights of people on the autism spectrum are reaffirmed.

A world where barriers to a fulfilling and meaningful life are recognised and removed.

A world that respects, values and includes diverse ways of being and seeing the world.

A world where the possibilities for people on the autism spectrum are equal to those who are not Autistic.
