2012 Aspect Recognition Awards Nomination Guidelines
Nominations for the 6th Annual Autism Spectrum Australia (Aspect) Recognition Awards are now closed.
A number of nominations were received across all categories. Nominees and the people who nominated them will be invited to a special event on 2 April 2012 for the announcement of award recipients.
This is an important event on the Autism Month calendar because it helps us honour the outstanding contributions and achievements of extraordinary people and organisations in the autism spectrum community and in the wider community that support Aspect.
The Awards recognise the actions and achievements of individuals or organisations that go far beyond what might be reasonably expected. Through this award program, Aspect celebrates these people as representatives of a community of people all of whom achieves and excels.

Making a nomination
Any individual, community organisation, professional organisation or similar group can nominate someone for an award. Family members, carers, friends, colleagues and service providers are particularly encouraged to make nominations.
Nominations for an Aspect Recognition Award should preferably be lodged online but will also be accepted via a downloadable version of the official nomination form below. In completing the form, it is important to provide specific examples of how the nominee’s contribution or achievement has been outstanding, as well as examples that show how the nominee has gone above and beyond what might reasonably be expected of someone in a similar position and why you think the nominee is worthy of recognition by Aspect. Attach or include copies of photos, testimonials, certificates, reports or other material if you think these might strengthen the nomination.
If you nominate someone for more than one award, each nomination must be made on a separate nomination form.
Nominations were to have been lodged with Aspect no later than 5 pm, Wednesday 7 March 2012.
Referees
It is helpful to provide the names and contact details of individuals who are in a position to comment directly on the nominee’s contributions and achievements.
Judging the Awards

The decision of the judging panel is final and no correspondence will be entered into about it. The panel is chaired by the Chief Executive Officer. Other members of the panel are the Executive Director, Education & Research, Executive Director, Community Services & People, the Director, Relationship Fundraising & Communication.
Special commendation
In addition to the Awards categories outlined above, the judging panel may elect to make special commendations.
